Multilanguage STARTALK Teacher Training: Technology, Pedagogy, and Assessment Part II

The Summer Multi-Language Teacher workshop will be an on-site training open to Startalk teachers from around the country with preference given to teachers in our 2011 Startalk programs. Teachers accepted into this program will participate in 60 hours of sustained instruction and training in a 2-week summer program and additionally will log in 10 hours of sustainment and skill building activities for 6 months following the program through online asynchronous and synchronous communication networking. Teachers participating in the program will attend 6 hours per day of instruction, from Monday through Friday, for two consecutive weeks. Working in language-specific teams they will design and model teaching a one hour lesson targeted to the proficiency and age levels of a specific group of students. Using a broad range of technological tools and software participants will learn to develop their lessons with media using communicative-based strategies infused with culture. Instruction for this workshop will be offered and modeled in English followed by work in language-specific teams in the afternoons.
