My brother, E. A. Hendrick,"Ted" or "Dutch", survived the sinking of the Bismarck Sea. He was 20 at the time. I enjoyed Richard Kaplan's tale of that night. Did anybody know Ted?

My Dad was Larry(John)DiCenzo He served on the USS Edmonds DE406. He was one of the men that jumped into the water to save as many men as they could. He too didn't like to talk about this day.

Continuation of my posting - If my memory
serves me correctly, I think my dad told me
that there was about a mile or so distance
between the 2 ships when the attack began. My
dad died in 2003. Does Mr. Kaplan or any
other Bismarck Sea crewmen recall the
approximate distance between Bismarck Sea &
Saratoga when the attack began? God bless the
fallen warriors of both ships. On Resurrection
Day the sea will give up its dead.

I have a question of Mr. Kaplan or other
crewmen of Bismarck Sea. When the massive
kamikaze attack of 21 FEB 1945 at Iwo Jima
began against carriers Saratoga & Bismarck Sea
Saratoga was starboard of Bismarck Sea. My 19
year old dad Alfred Befeld was a 20mm gunner
on the port side of Saratoga & he was firing
his gun at kamikazes when Bismarck Sea was
struck by the 2 kamikazes. Please see the
continuation of my posting.

I own a coffee shop in Hudson, Fl (Daddy O's Donuts). Today a 92 year old man came in and had a cup of coffee. We struck up a conversation about the wars and he told me about his ship USS. Bismarck Sea CVE-95. He pulled out an extremely old picture of him. I decided to look up his story on the net and found this video. I would like to thank all responsible for creating it as I will be showing Harold Meininger MM/3 C tomorrow. Today he is 92 years old and in great health.

Thanks again
Dan

I met a man ~ ten years ago that was on it when it sank. He was in a gun tub when the first plane hit. I met him at a function at my daughters school (his granddaughter was a student also)to build sets for a play. I spent an entire afternoon working with him and he talked to me about it for about half the time. After he left his daughter wanted to know how I got him to talk. He never had. I don't why he talked to me. He agreed to meet families of lost men. Some he had seen die. He regretted that
