False statements gentlemen. You can produce hydrogen cheaper then what you put into it. There is hydro-electric. There is solar production. There is wind. There is gear reduction. Theres steam given off by boiling water that is heated from burning the methane produced in land fills. Any means to spin a generator or allternator is all you need or solar. There are even systems in production to create hydrogen fast enough on board the vehicle to be a viable portion of the fuel mixture. Saving u gas

what you people that are commenting dont realize is that it takes more energy to break bonds than it does to create them. the difference in energy is expressed as free energy which is where the energy comes from.

Water is not a fuel. It will never be a fuel, nor will you ever power your car with water.
If you put energy into water by electrolysis, you can store a fraction of the energy you input as HYDROGEN gas. This stored energy can then be released by burning the hydrogen, or oxidizing it in a fuel cell. This returns a fraction of the energy stored.
In the end you get less energy than what you originally put in. Hydrogen stores energy. It is the fuel used.
