Don't know if Rolling Stones included him as one of the best but Guitar Player Magazine did 5 times. But RS did cover him. Just look it up on the net.

its funny why rolling stones magazine did not even include this guy as 1 of the greatest guitarist of all time.. cool what he can do with the acoustic guitar, he is an inspiration.. flight of the bumble bee should be in the greatest guitar solo of all time as well.. i feel he is better than other respected guitar names as clapton, page, richard and the likes..

you're right but when Jose becomes a worldwide star in late 60s, trend magazines like RollingStones or melody maker and their stupid writers, don't love Jose: that was because he hit with "strange" covers of their much loved bands like Doors, RollingStones or Beatles: so many readers don't loves Jose and these magazines not considerated him if not like easy-singer no more. Not one of the most incredible musician of our time: only real and indipendent musicians could understand.

umm so that was the case then.. mainstrean success must have overshadowed sheer talent on this scenario, the fact that he is all sound and no sight at all, thats against all odds in playing the guitar with respect to the competitions.. a truly great artist must wear his influences up on his sleeve all the time, and he is a great influence dude..
