Inspiration for this poem goes in major part to Tim Minchin's beat poem entitled 'Storm', and also in small part to that lady who embarrassed herself and quite possibly the artistic community in front of most of the United States during President Obama's inauguration.

It was written (by myself, of course) over a period of approximately half an hour, one day prior recording.

I am in fact reading off of a printed copy of the poem, so that is why I keep looking away.
I'm also trying out some new sound settings on my mask for this video (read: I carved away parts of the mouth to make it wider). Hopefully I'll sound less muffled from now on.

  • Very well said. I'll add to that a quote from Jonathan Miller:

"In some awful, strange, paradoxical way, atheists tend to take religion more seriously than the practitioners."

As I hinted to, once you stop believing in magic, you can start believing in reality, and you can also face the dangers fostered by unfounded faith. The religious wars, the willingness to let everything die to force Jesus's return and rapture... We need to move beyond childishness to survive as a species.

  • Biochips1:

Errrr, what is "REAL atheism" i might ask? It is only a lack of belief. Nothing is needed to back its claim.

And we talk about religion all the time because we, well at least i, think that religion and the belief in god, is ludicrous and demented. The teachings of unprovable and indemonstrable beliefs and faiths about this reality, or the supposed one after this reality, are a major step backward in the progression of mankind as a whole. God must die, for mankind to live.

  • Be hard to find someone more open-minded than I am, but being open-minded doesn't mean you have to accept everything that's thrown your way, either. I can't link to it in comments, but if you check my favorites there's an excellent video about just that subject.

  • So, you want to find out more about reality. That's an honorable goal to achieve, but don't forget that this requires open-mindedness and patience.

  • Much appreciated!

  • Excellent my friend. Very good.
