Krone Big M 400 and Puma 210 with triple mower cutting the hay for the demonstrations the following day at Empire Farm days. Didn't take 60ft of mowers very long to cut that small area.

  • THe commentary makes sense, "it ties the tractor up", but at least it keeps the tractor going, it's not sitting around in a shed during the winter, it can pull a manure spreader when the Krone sits idle because it's only got 1 purpose.

  • It's a hard debate Ron. I'd rather have the Krone. Chances are if you have that many acres you can justify a mower that big having an extra tractor free during the busy season is more important than having a sp mower sit idle in the winter. The tough time would be planting beans and first cut. With the tractor and mower you have to stop planting to mow. We bought a sp sprayer because a tractor was tied up literally from April until October.

  • That Tedder would be nice to have. Beats our 2-Star Tedder. Great Video.

  • I hear you there!!!

  • We don't use tedders where I am from. I am wondering what the purpose is, is it to spread the hay out more evenly for better dry down. Please let me know if I am correct or if there is another purpose. Thank you

  • Il ike the Big M's how much do they cost any idea? And somebody should have told that tedder driver that his mirrors wont work too good facing away from the cab.

  • you need big medows to have one of those

  • I'd much rather have the tractor. Multipurpose. The Krone is an expensive machine JUST for mowing.

  • @Farmerknowsbest great video by the way id just like to add to yere convo well in ireland were i come from you need roughly 7000 acres every season to justify a self propelled mower

  • @Farmerknowsbest you missing the point. You can buy a tractor and mower set up insted of the Krone and still have the tractor for other duties when not on the mower. SP mower only mows. They are lovey to drive but the figures simply do not add up. SP sprayers are great because they are used far more than mowers thoughout the year. Unless you have got 100 Ha fields totaling over 2000 Ha then you cant make the Krone more viable.

  • @Farmerknowsbest

I understand where you are coming from but a new 300hp tractor or butterfly mowers would surely be cheaper than the BigM? And then when its not on the mowers you would have one extra tractor than normal?

  • krone from germany ;)

  • that´s so slow how they drive!!!

  • Yeah but for the cost of the big M could you buy another tractor and the mowers??? then you could have the tractor for other work in the fall or winter??
