Leo's using a glass slide w/med.gauge silk@steel strings which gave that distinctive "twang". The guitar is his infamous workhorse custom Martin D-12 20 with cutaway and longer neck of 28" ..which allows it to join the body at the 14th. fret instead of the 12th. without changing the bridge placement!! Very cool! Kottke used this guitar for open tunnings and bottleneck tunes. He also liken the early 60's Gibson B-45 12strings for Standard and Drop tunnings.
