This is in regard to the Ad posted by the no on prop 8 proponents which slandered the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, The Mormons, with an Ad depicting two alleged missionaries played by actors physically forcing their way into the home of a lesbian couple, rummaging through their property and destroying it then boasting about how they want to take away American citizen's rights.

It was a time to show that all those who believe not only in freedom of Religion, the teachings of Jesus Christ but all those who believe in the freedom of speech and in preserving the 1st Amendment and that we all realize that we all have more in common than different especially when it comes to the legal definition of marriage and not allowing less then 3% of the general population to dictate, especially with the use of verbal/physical abuse, slander and fear tactics to push their own agenda forward. Quite ironic when you consider that they are asking for respect and recognition from others and show their own "colors" by their own actions.

I think it is beautiful to see people of all faiths or none uniting over the love of family and the defintion of marriage = one man + one woman, God bless America and the freedoms we all yet enjoy, remember that all it takes to lose your freedom is for people of good conscience to remain silent, to paraphrase one of our most vocal founding fathers, even Thomas Jefferson.

ADL issued the following statement:

"Although we strongly opposed Proposition 8, its passage does not justify the defacement and destruction of property. We urge Californians to channel their frustration and disappointment in productive and responsible ways to work towards full equality for all Americans. To place anyone in fear of threat to their houses of worship or their personal security because they have expressed deeply held religious views is contrary to everything this nation represents. Our Constitution's First Amendment protects freedom of speech, freedom of assembly and freedom of religion for all of us."

The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.

  • People of faith must stand together. As a Latter Day Saint I feel a great camaraderie with fellow believers who choose to speak out against the turn our society had taken for the (much) worse. If we don't stand together (which is what the Saints were doing in pushing Prop 8) we will fall separately, and one day, our religious freedoms will be deeply compromised in the name of so called "equal rights" for the emotionally troubled. The future of the US as we know it depends on our mutual support

  • @bomac10000 I feel the same, sadly most people have no idea of the long-term consequences of changing the definition of marriage for everyone. It is terrible and we could potentially lose the very freedoms upon which this country was founded the first amendment as well as others.

  • I am a gay Catholic and you cannot force ur religion nor beliefs upon another human being. The Catholic church was against polygamous marriages, when the LDS church allowed such. Any church cannot impose its definition of marriage upon a nation.

  • @tyndarius if you actually knew what we believed then you would know your comment is ridiculous. The definition of traditional marriage has existed for thousands of years I hardly think we are the first to support it. Nor do I believe it right for homosexual activists to impose not only their lifestyle on others but to try to change the actual definition of marriage for the entire world. Talk about pushing something on others.

  • Just remember Roman Catholic was the 1st Christian Religion ever lived 2,000 yrs ago. The mother of all Religion. Thousands of denomination was just founded 100 to 500 yrs ago. What's that tells us? Roman Catholic was and is the only 1 true church founded by jesus christ and apostle peter, even says in the bble in front of u.

  • @bomac10000 Thank you for your informed, educated and insightful response, sadly, something we see far to little of on youtube. ;)

  • @edgwaterprog Actually, Catholic Relief Services and LDS welfare work together often in emergency situations. I am LDS and converted from Catholicism, there is far more in common in basis beliefs than you would think. I appreciate the thoughts expressed in the video, we stand shoulder to shoulder with other people of faith in this regard.

  • Prop 8 made strange bedfellows out the Catholic hierarchy and the LDS Church, how funny is that?

  • I think this is a great example of integrity. Thank you.

  • Amen...

  • The corrupt govt has always had something to do with influencing those who have faith in the system.

  • @tyndarius There is no forcing going on. It was put to a VOTE and it WON. It is now a GAY man that is forcing HIS belief on a state that VOTED a proposition into LAW.
