Witting Surgical Center Guided Tour

Workers and staff are putting the finishing touches on Crouse Hospital's new 90,000 square-foot Witting Surgical Center. This video provides an inside preview of the new facility, with Jill Hauswirth, director of inpatient surgical services, and Jeff Tetrault, director of engineering, serving as your tour guides. The new center replaces the hospital's existing 35 year-old inpatient operating room facility. Phase 1 of the $50 million project is complete, with 11 new operating rooms opening for cases in early December. Three additional operating rooms will be completed in late 2011.

The new, state-of-the-art facility features:

· larger operating rooms that can accommodate the increasing space needs brought on by complex surgeries and continuous technological advances in surgical care;

· ample room for new and expanded programs in specialty areas such as orthopedics, robotics, vascular surgery and neurosurgery;

· waiting areas that will provide guests with the comfort and amenities expected in healthcare facilities today;

· a facility designed to enhance Crouse Hospital's patient safety and HIPAA efforts;

· a number of green infrastructure features including high-efficiency motors, motion detectors for lighting, high-efficiency lighting and low consumption plumbing systems;
· room for the addition of outpatient operating rooms and the future expansion of the hospital's Emergency Department.
