After more then 8 years of sitting, a $130 motor from the junkyard, and much hassle....This car was a pre-order and is titled as a 1956, it was the 438th Fisher body off the line, note the mirror mounted on dash and not from the top. The last time this car moved was for the movie "Moon Juice".

  • forgot to mention. is this a hardtop or sedan? 4 door? the dash mounted mirror i saw a 2 door nomad bel air that was titled 57 and had a dash mounted mirror.... also is this car like original or nanything? it looks DAMN GOOD!

  • It's a 4 door hardtop, body #438 I don't know what the cut off was for the dash mounted mirrors, but it was VERY early, they vibrated so they remounted them up top. It's not totally original, motor and trans are newer, the rest is pretty stock, I did just go with power disc brakes though.

  • OMG. my uncle has a 4 door hardtop. power windows power seats power brakes and is serria gold. we are restoring it. and the dash mounted mirriors i imagine vibrated loose. do you have a new vid of it? also 4 door hard tops are rare themselves because the back doors would rot and fall off. you got a rare car. my uncles is rare but not an early body number. u gonna restore it? its a bel air right? or 210?

  • Yea, my plans to restore it are taking some time, I have so many other projects, I hope to have it on the road this spring, and it's a BelAir, it had 55,000 miles on it when I got it in 1983, still had the original shocks on it.

  • Time for some headers !!

  • These old tri-fives never die.. As long as there is a chevy V/8 engine running there will be a 57 Chevy on the planet!

  • that's a really sweet '57. i never knew the early ones had the mirror mounted on the dash. way cool.

  • what seriel number is the car!? there was a 150 chevy sold on barret jackson thats chassis number wass 00001 and body number 000002.

  • Yeah as a matter of fact yours is the only other one I have seen other than my friend's. When you decide to restore it I would keep it on there just like it is, perhaps put a piece of thin cork gasket underneath it to keep it from rattling!! Cool vid!!!

  • Thanx for the info, I know there were others out there, but as of yet I haven't seen one for myself. I wonder how many are left with a dash mount mirror?
