Seriously though, I find myself having a hard time watching my mouth when I'm around kids. We all do. Shit, I haven't seen a kid under seventeen for over six months.

@marcusos1111 Would you rather be a target, or a marksman?
Army has infantry out the ASS and they're all trained just barely well enough and they're all hugely expendable. Plus they Army has the lowest physical standards I've ever seen.

lol..when were fresh in the fleet we always act like motards

@bobthebiotitan That sux. But we had some of that in my day. They always wanted NCO's. At least one per deck. So much for quality of living.

@nyquildays Not anymore Devil. Due to the Corps downsizing everyone up to Single Sgts are moving back into the barracks. If you have a lease out in town then as soon as it comes up again you have to move back. However, if you own a house or are married then you are scott free.

@PrivatePeterson
It depends on why you're joining. Are you joining it because you can't get a job? Then no. Are you joining it because you don't know what to do with your life? Eh, maybe. Are you joining it to better yourself? Yes. Getting off of drugs? Yes. Want to grow up in the shortest time you could ever believe? Yes.
I just turned 21 years old and I'm about to be headed back to Afghanistan. All my college friends are still talking about class, girls and the weekend. I talk about war.0.o

@bobthebiotitan I've played with little plastic toy soldiers as a youngling, held toy guns until I was 13 (then upgraded to real guns, thanks dad!) and ran "recon" missions when I was 12 with my best friend. I've never considered enlisting in the military until a couple days ago when I figured that all the jobs that exist are shit (and I can't find them either). In your opinion, does that hinder a good reason to enlist?

@blackyblackblack505 None of those things are going to prepare you for being a Marine. In fact, most things in life really can't prepare you. It helps to be mature. It helps to be a person who can stop complaining and just accept the fact that where you are and what you're doing sucks and is stupid.
I helps to not have an attitude, and to have a respect for authority figures. It helps to have confidence and initiative.
If you are joining for a job then don't. If you want to be better. Do it.
