Fireworks Party in Far Rockaway, Queens. The Series. 1987-1992. 1987 part1

Before I leave this earth, I want to preserve the archives of what I experienced in Far Rockaway, Queens, NYC, and Long Beach, NY (A stones's throw from Queens).

What follows is all the unedited raw footage from those salad days of tens of thousands of dollars worth of fireworks being detonated by real people. Genuine people. Before the days of the politically-correct empire. Before the days of paranoia that anything that went *boom* was a sign of terrorism. The days of REAL PARTYING.

It took place over the course of 6 years. I do not have any editing software, so a lot of it may seem "boring".

But know one thing when watching all this footage...

These videos were not just about the fireworks themselves, but moreso the PEOPLE behind them. And that is what I feel separates these home videos from all the others out there. These videos take on a personality all their own.

Watch them all, and you may see. I will add notations as I can as I upload and process them. But beware...I have a Win98 machine, and this is all truly RAW. The only thing I can do is split videos (and add notations thanks to YouTube's thingy), so there will be some bits that may appear totally irrelevant. Just watch. I shall endeavour to make it enjoyable.

The first video clip that follows this header is low-quality, originally filmed with an 8mm camcorder. Sorry, but it is what we had at the time. All clips that follow it during the same year use the same camera hardware.

The video quality itself is total crap-ass on the first 2 years of tape, due to the fact that the master tapes are so damn old. I hope that by putting them up here, they may be preserved for all time. Because damnit to hell, these parties were SO MUCH FUN.

The year of filming and part # will be noted in the title.

How you getting away with this in New York? The word is out that the state of New York government hates fireworks.

Well, considering the dates of these videos, that should clue you in...These parties happened 20+ year ago, when Ed Kock was NYC Mayor. Ever hear of him?

Didn't think so.

And if the "state of New York government", whatever that is suppossed to be, hated them, the partying in these videos would not exist.

But I guess you'd have to be a New Yorker to understand. *shrugs*

Didn't mean to sound gruff if that's how you took it. What I mean is that it's hard to understand what it was like back then, and how different it is now. It really was a whole other world before everyone got their panties in a bunch about all the trivial crap like "saving the children".

This is really cool. Thanks for doing us a favor and recording all this - not many people have the foresight of keeping raw footage like this and it's difficult to find.  I was 12 back in July '87..even though folks have it made nowadays with the aerial stuff, back then the crackers were top notch.

Yeah, this was before giuliani came and spoiled everybody's good time. Back when NYC had something called "BALLS"! God, why can't we take our dress off and put pants back on?
