Stones Rising 2008 (Vacation)

This is a clip of the events over vacation and the stones rising event where we lifted, pulled, pullied, and tied, oh and stood up a 7ton (14,000lb) stone..the great father stone at the western gate! and some awesome pics at the end...

OMG...right...one of the girls had it...Pink pigs with wings..and she was going to show it off if we couldnt get the stone up...you know! if pigs could fly...I had to have it, so she pulled it off and gave it to me during the pull..

Could you explain the purpose of it and it's meanings, please. I don't get the lack of using modern machines for this event when you have cars all over. The SCA recreates history

for history's sake, the Rainbow gathering people disconnect themselfs by walking for miles away from the modern world, the Amish believe god doesn't aprove,

but your pagan right, I don't think the goddess stops technology, does she?

There are so many purposes and goals intended that it would be difficult to explain without experiencing it. We learn to find center balance, work out math, create forms, and we do not exclude machinery entirely...only for the pull and rising...we still require something to dig the trench, and holes for the cement forms..and we have cement delivered to create the forms where the base will sit...I think you misundertand somewhere that technology isn't welcome..and that's not the intent or case.

The larger intent is to create sacred space, build a community of people who can accomplish a goal with one single mind..regardless of gender, color, creed, sexual orientation..etc...There are so many purposes, and to create sacred space and connect with the earth and its energies..

I love 4 Quarters Farm, and the animal sounds are beautiful at night. I like when you're going to the lower meadow and you can hear the drum circles echoing through the trees with the animal sounds it's amazing. Beltane isn't far off, the moon services are nice too. I'm going to be visiting 4qf more often in the near future.
