Yep. You read that right!

MY Northeast Regional #131 from New York going towards Washington passes Amtrak #51, the Southbound Cardinal. My Regional had AEM-7 #949 leading, while the Cardinal had two AEM-7's attached to it. This video was taken while my train was in between Trenton and Philadelphia.

I had first saw the train passing through Metropark, but then caught it again as we raced it onto Philadelphia. I can finally say it now and proud. I SAW THE CARDINAL!

  • Yeah as mentioned I saw it first race through Metropark just before my train arrived, then we met again as my train arrived in Trenton, and then I passed the Cardinal for good as my train was headed to 30th Street. It was awesome!

On other news w/ the Cardinal, it is currenlty 8:27 am, and the Cardinal is EARLY. WOW

  • wow, double header, that was an awesome meet

  • Yes I do know it heads to Chicago. It rides the NEC to D.C., makes an engine change, and then makes a U-ie back north (but in a westerly direction) towards Indianapolis and Chicago.

And another thing, THAT TRAIN WAS PACKED!

  • Wow, this is the best way to see any train IMO. Great catch! BTW you may want to change the title to "WB Cardinal". It IS going to Chicago you know.
