A sermon by Keith Warren preached on the 30th November 2008 at Redlands Christian Reformed Church.

Bible Passages: Psalm 19:1-6; Isaiah 44:9-23

For thousands of years ancient Egypt had a very strong focus on the worship of idols. Many of these idols were pictured as animals or part-animals.

This morning we want to consider how Romans 1 relates to idol worship, and what some of the consequences are. Not just for the Egyptians, or the Israelites, but also for us in 2008. The only one who can set us free from wrong worship, is Jesus.

  • Lets try using the KJV next time.. good video anyway though.

  • The KJV is not that much better than the NIV. For it is harder to read and contains quite a lot of verses that are not found in the earliest Biblical manuscripts.

    I personally prefer the ESV.

  • what is an idol???? :::It is anything more important to you than God, anything that absorbs your heart more than God. It can be family and children, or career and making money, or achievement and critical acclaim, social standing. It can be a romantic relationship, peer approval, competence and skill, secure and comfortable circumstances, your beauty or brains, a political or social cause, your morality, virtue, or even success in Christian ministry.

  • The NIV is a corrupted version by Rupert Murdock. The AUTHORIZED KING JAMES BIBLE is the ONE TRUE word of my Father.. ALL others are TRASH and CORRUPTED.

  • Aren't you degrading? Oh....you are white so your way right. You are mis-representing their beliefs. The dung beetle is symbolic of the renewal of life. The ball of dung that it rolls represents day & night....daily rebirth. Slavery has always existed..still does. Remember God is always in control. Know someone's belief before you can comment...single minded thinking.

  • any thing is Idolatry if you have the cross or Jesus so on even that is call Idolatry
