The song uses a tarantula as a metaphor. Tarantulas get a bad rap, they are very sensitive creatures, and only attack when feeling threatened, hence.... In the lyrics, " But when the pressure gets too much for me, I bite."

One of my favorite songs, and holds a special place, because I had 2 pet Costa Rican Zebra legged tarantulas.
