Megacle's first aria.
Superbo di me stesso ("I am proud of myself")
Andro portando in fronte
quel caro nome impresso
come mi sta nel cor.
Dira la Grecia poi
che fur comune a noi
l'opre, i pensier, gli affetti
e al fine il nome ancor.

  • where was filmed that? and who's playing?

  • Actually I bought the whole DVD, non comercial from someone who taped it back in 2001 from an opera shown in Greece and it is something of a collectors item,it has not been recorded formally, and unfortunately I don't know who accompanied Philippe, but I'll try to find out and let you know.

  • I just found all the details, but in Greek. I'll send them to you tomorrow (in latin alphabet, hehe). :) It was the first Italian Baroque opera performed in Greece, in the city of Volos, in October 2001.

  • Thanks Marc you are a jewel, how ever did you find info? If you want a copy of the whole thing I have an extra.Philippe looks so young but his singing is so good I watch it all the time.

  • Just bought bad copy of this performance of L'Olimpiade from HouseofOpera. Any chance of a copy of your seemingly excellent DVD? Might have something I could trade with you. Or could you point me in direction of person you bought it off. Many thanks.

  • Hi rudders1a,

I WISH my copy was better!! What I did is after getting the copy from House of Opera, I BOUGHT a new dvd which had some new technology and which allowed me to see the opera a little bit better, and so far as I know there is no other copy. The dvd made a difference though.

    Regards!

  • Ouah!! Philippe Jaroussky est vraiment remarquable dans cette vidéo! On reconnait bien le chant de Vivaldi. Dommage pour la qualité de la vidéo mais c'est pas grave! ;))))

  • I said Cyrillic, but I meant (modern) Greek. I also made a search in Cyrillic alphabet, but it was to check the conductor's name (he's a Russian). ;)

  • I found this thanks to a Google search in Cyrillic alphabet. Then I had to look for the correct transliteration of the names into Latin alphabet.
