If you dont like the "Naughty Aughties" then i would just refer to it as the Aughts or the Aughties, sounds perfectly simple enough.. Besides it realy WAS the Naughty Aughties.. I mean.. if that is the most GOOGLED nickname.. then the "internet people" already named it that.

As far as the most important/crazy/idk event of the last decade was probably 9/11.. i mean HELLO! it started a whole mess of turbulence that you could even say had effects into the "naughtyness" of 2000-2009

Nineteen Eighties, Nineteen Nineties, Two Thousands decade, Twenty Tens, Twenty Twenties, Twenty Thirties.

Is it really that difficult, that time-consuming and hard, just to simply call it the Two Thousands decade? When I see 1990s I see Nineteen Nineties, when I see 2000s I see Two Thousands (decade) and when I see 2010s I see Twenty Tens. Simples :)

20s 30s 40s 50s 60s 70s 80s 90s are the same, just add (optionally) Nineteen or Twenty etc before them.

00s and 10s. 10s is seen as Tens.

The First 10 were awesome!!! I graduated from highschool survived dieases that the goverment made a bigger deal out of than it really was. I started college, i met my boyfriend and were engaged to be engaged!! yay lol
