WTF are you people talking about? I read all of these comm. and I don't understand why you all hate Subaru all of a sudden? How does the rack change everything about the car? I just bought a dodge calliber 2011 and I can't even buy the rails let alone put on crossbars. This seems like a great idea to me because it is 2 solutions in one and why the hell does a crossbar ruin the purpose of this car pulling a boat? This is not a rail system either. . .

i hate the new roof rack. its ugly. doesnt hold decent weight or proper for kayak. its so fugly im opting for a delete and replacement for true makers of roof racks yakima or thule. common subaru u make cars not roof racks. fugly shit

wish my subaru impreza my06 sedan had one of those;/ really handy for my kayak!

The 2010-11 Outback roof racks will probably be OK for some cargo but I am certain that it is unsafe as is for long objects like my 18' canoe. I am not about to try it. We felt disgusted and betrayed by Subaru and started shopping other brands. We finally came back and bought a Forester today. I can take the Thule rack off my 1995 Outback and put it on the 2011 Forester. I don't even like the style of the newer Outbacks.

Subaru doesn't care about their Enthusiast Customer base anymore.... Subaru used to be a niche brand, those who owned them loved them and the rest didn't care for them. since Toyota has gotten their claws in their products are moving toward mainstream and they are alienating their LOYAL, Core market. I have owned 3 Subarus and if they continue on their current path, I will move on to another brand.

The problem is that the factory crossbars are too close together, and their spread is not adjustable. Also, all serious bikers and boaters use Yakima or Thule crossbars anyway, and this Subaru rail system is designed to prevent them from being attached. Apparently, people who actually use roof racks make up a small market that Subaru doesn't care about.

This roof rack system destroys the usefulness of Subaru as the boat-carrying car of choice. Nobody I know has bought one, because they would not be able to carry their boats. The old rack system was just fine. This one is useless.

I think it's a great idea, but I don't carry my bikes on the roof. I understand the criticism it's getting because of some capatability issues with the aftermarket.

this car is so ugly....it doesnt stand a chance against the venza or the cx-7

This rack is totally lame. I will NOT be purchasing a 2010 because of this. WAy to mess a good thing up.
That's the same roof rack on the new Mack truck !
I'm sure it could hold 3 moose up there, and still go 200 mph.

This design is totally useless for people who actually USE the roof rack (multiple kayaks and bikes). The rack design on my '03 Outback is far superior and this would be a deal breaker if I were in the market for a new vehicle.
