Caught In A Bad Romance 3x05

The next morning Rae was lacing up her converse when her brother came in her bedroom door. Zac, who had gotten out of prison shortly after Rae found out she was pregnant was now living with her until he could find a roomate at the college he now attended.

"You about ready for school kiddo?" He asked as he leaned againt the wall taking small sips out of his steaming cup of coffee.

She nods and stands up. Something catches her eye, she walks over to her window and stares at the man who was apparently sitting in his truck aross the street.

Zac now noticed this too, he stood beside her. "I wonder who that is?"

Rae sighs and grabs her bookbag, "A ghost from my past that wont go away."

She heard him say goodbye as she walked out the front door. The morning was brisk and cloudy. The sun hadn't come out in days, maybe weeks. Rae personally liked it that way.

Walking down her driveway and crossing the street, she knocks on the car window of the passanger side of Joe's truck.

He looks over at her and reaches over to unlock the door.

Rae climbs in and sits there silently. Things were akward and she was sure neither one of them was prepared to have this conversation, "How long have you been in your truck like this?"

He stared straight head, "All night. I was going to go for a drive but to many things were on my mind."

She looked down and stared at an old crushed coke can laying in the floor beside her feet. "Like what kind of things?"

"I just need to know, are you positive that Liam is the father of your baby?" His voice wasnt in the same tone as it was the night before, it was hard an cold. He was either angry or upset.

"I'm sure."

"Don't lie to me Rae." He looks at her. His eyes were pink and tired from lack of sleeping.

Rae looks at him and sighs, why did things have to be so complicated. Why couldn't they just be simple like they were when she was a kid.

She hesitates but he was waiting for an answer, the truth. "I'm 100% sure that Liam is not the father." She hesitates a few seconds more before speaking again, "I am also 100% sure that YOU are the father."

The words hit him like a bullet, Joe prepared himself for this answer all night but it didnt change the rush of emotion that was surging throuhg him. He takes a deep breath, "Where is it?"

"Where is what?"

"Where is what??..THe baby Rae. Where is my baby?"

Rae looked down again, this was part two of her secret. She could feel his eyes burning into her waiting for an answer.
