Altai Khangai is a group of indigenous traditional musicians and singers from Mongolia, named for the Altai Mountains and the Hangai steppes in central and western Mongolia. The three members of this dynamic collaboration are Ganzorig Nergui, a throat singer who plays the horse-head fiddle (morin Khurr); Ganbold Muukhai, who also plays the horse-head fiddle; and Odnoo Uranchimeg, who plays the two stringed violin (khuuchir). Ganbold and Ganzorig are members of the Altai Khangai ensemble that has toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States since 1993. Using traditional music and composition and have recently begun a Canadian Mongolian jazz fusion collaboration. Their album, a tour of traditional Mongolian music, is called Gone with the Wind.
