obviously someone who hasnt owned a V8 as a normal car. They cruise better than any other motor, they tow better than any other motor, they sound fantasticnand yet you can kick the arse out of the car in a ploom of tire smoke when you like.

I think rotaries are amazing, how 4 moving parts can make so much power per litre is astonashing. But to flag down V8's cause they dont rev to 10,000 is ignorant. Low rev torque mate. All motors have their place in performance

Actually, it's once per rotation per rotor.

Also, I disagree about the displacement... I don't think it really counts because there's no way a rotary engine could ignite all 3.9L inside it becaues it's just different stages in one ignition cycle, whereas a piston engine could theoretically fire all cylinders at the same time for the full displacement.

@DorfaMod umm, since when did the best american v8 only produce 300??? an ls7 gets 505 hp..and if you still want american power.. the GM 7.5 V12 is as small and light as a v8 but has 750 hp, 750 torques. tht was 5 years ago...

I dont know who thought a rotary was a better engine than a standard piston driven engine, but you sir are terribly wrong. and not just in terms of technicalities, normal engines sound soooo much better than any buzzy rotary...

@Paiste402 there are v8's that rev to and past 10,000. and the displacement of rotary engines is off, because ignition happens usually three times for a full rotation, so the displacemnt is three times what it says, so a 1.3 RX-8 is actually 3.9, not very efficient when you think of it like that. the only advantage a rotory has is size and thermodynamics, so a turbo works well with it. V8 are amazing engines and make an amazing sound...SLS, 458 italia!

many ferraris use v8. bmw m5 is switching to v8. bugatti veyron has 2 v8s. some f1 cars use v8. v8 is more reliable than rotary. hate to disappoint you but v8 is better than a rotary in terms of power, and reliability
