I participated in the Battle of Wilsons Creek reenactment in the early 1990's and was fighting on "Bloody Hill" in the union lines and had to be ordered to duck so a cannon similar to this discharged its ammo and the tree in front of this bent forward, substantially. It was something to see.
Due to park rules, we only shot half of the charge and couldn't shoot a real round because one of the tour rodes was in front of the cannon around 100-200 feet away.

interesting but no recoil what we do we use a real round for competetion and you can see a recoil.
