@rmroza You have no idea who this guy is. Perhaps he needs to stress safety more but he really does know what he's doing, trust me on that.

before you try this at home kids, make sure you use an insulated precision screwdriver on equipment using lethal voltages ;) ...you will thank me one day i'm sure :D

@mushroomscouser that wasn't hash. that was a capacitor.

I have a very early silver face twin. I took the amp out of the cabinet once to spray some switch cleaner in the pots. Much to my surprise I found an ancient, small block of hash inside. I smoked it and it wasn't bad at all, just a bit rough on the throat. Thing is, the twin hasn't sounded quite as good since. Anyone have any idea what the problem is?

Beautiful 1964 Deluxe reverb amp there, Gerald!

i've always biase by ear...and I haven't ever burned up an output tube, ever.

in push-pull amps with 2 tubes, each tube amplifies one halfwave of the signal. removing one tube of a will leave you with a shitty sound at least as just one half of the signal will be amplified. also the output-transformer will be peranently magnetized which will cause your amp to break down within a month at most. i dont recommend that.
if youre interested in reducing the power of your amp, you should try to run your tubes in pseudo-triode mode or just get a power soak.
The most laid back Amp dude ever!
