A great class on the tradition of German Scherenschnitte, paper cutting, for making Christmas ornaments and decorations. The Sophienburg Museum in New Braunfels, Texas, periodically offers these classes and they have supplies for Scherenschnitte, too.

  • As a a 5th generation New Braunfels family neither of my grandmothers had time to do pretty paper cutouts for decorations. Both lived on farms cooking, cleaning, feeding chickens, gathering eggs. Don't forget milking the cows. Using a 'seperator' for the cream. Washing it, to have it clean for the next day. Blowing out the kerosine lamp and going to bed. The next day would arrive too soon. Dedicated to my grandmothers who never saw a Scherenschnitte, much less cut one.

  • Very sweet yout christmas trees.
