RAF Halton Trainees Pt 4 07.05.10

Just two weeks to go until the dream comes true for two recruits wanting careers in the RAF. For the last few weeks we've been following the fortunes of 3 trainees at RAF Halton as they undergo a series of rigourous challenges. This time Victoria Smith joined them on exercise Blue Warrior near Basingstoke where they were ambushed, faced close quarter attack and chemical explosives.

Bah, on that firing lane, my Rifle Jammed, and the rock ape stormed on in a huff, because I hadnt unjammed it in the 4 seconds Id been trying, and then took 2 minutes himself to unjam it.

I never got a three day excerise which I would have liked, ours was only one day- this was back in 1996. I wil say that the hot shower we had at the end of it all was perhaps *the* most luxurious I have ever experienced.

POINT TO NOTE: the 9 second respirator affair, it can 'just' be done provided you plan the motion to a T. Have to know exactly where the respirator isand be able to literalyl rip the helmet off the head with one hand. I'd like to thank my Reginemt trainers for those skills.
