David Weber talks about his the Honor Harrington series and Feminism in Science Fiction, whilst meeting fans at Forbidden Planet to Launch the 4th Book in the Stronghold series A Mighty Fortress.
David Weber is one of the greats of space opera and military science fiction. An American author and a rare visitor to the UK, he's noted for his consistent and rationally explained technology and society -- even when dealing with the fantasy genre. Often compared to C.S Forester, he's also known for his gender-neutral military -- and for frequently placing female leading characters in traditionally male roles. Previously the owner of a small advertising and public relations agency, Weber now writes science fiction full time - and is the recipient of the sort of critical praise once reserved for a Heinlein or an Asimov.

@Songsmirth "only a man would write a thing like that". Seriously? Try read the Anita Blake series by Laurell Hamilton and then say it with a straight face.

Thanks Leicester for the interview. / I stopped reading any of his work when David decided it was morally OK for a married man to have a relationship with Honor. Even with the wife's approval, it's not right. No matter how you put it, it's still people having an affair. Overnight, I lost most of my respect for him because only a man would write a thing like that. Then we find out he's been unfaithful a lot because he needs the physical release. Nonsense. I'm done. I want moral heros.

I started reading from in Enemy hands. I just randomly selected a book from the library and thought I should pic something fictional. But what about Benjamin, Grayson's protector. He has more than one wife. Do you know the day the next book will be out next year?

@gasdfw5 I didn't know they had audiobooks of this on itunes. I would spend all of my time trying to read this book and now I can listen to it on my ipod while doing other stuff. Do you know if the audiobook comes out on the same day the book does? Well a movie would die especially if multiple wives are in the story but I would be willing to see even the cartoon for each each book or simply web videos that I can buy over the internet.Or they can omit certain things for the movie and show it.

@gasdfw5 I think that would be a good idea and considering that they have the technology to live a lot longer the series would last for a while. lol.
