A couple who rented a Hybrid and drove it two thousand miles across the country compare it to the new Jetta TDI Matt Welch from Auburn VW is driving to San Francisco on one tank of fuel from the Seattle area.

ok it's not exactly a performance car but it is a REAL car.. i love how he puts the emphasis on that. And to the hybrid fans: what happens after the batteries have reached their cycle limit???

and for u noobs who don't know about VW, the electrical issues were mostly Mk4 and not Mk5... so yr talking about cars that have not been produced in a while, oh and have fun modifying your toyota's, that's another reason to buy a dub.

I mean, if a civic si can be considered performance with 197 HP and 130 torque, then this with 140 hp and 236 torque can be considered one.

and the 99-03 golf gti had 150hp and 160 torque, and boasted 0-60 times of 8.1

This can do 0-60 in 8.1 once it's broken in.

"This is a performance car" < Umm, no it simply isn't. Leave it to a dealership with a camera to wreak the Jetta TDI.

All in all though it's a brilliant car, much better then the Prius.
