Brighton Pavilion is set to become one of the most fiercely contested seats in this forthcoming general election. Christopher Swindells meets the central candidates in the three way marginal seat and discovers some of the biggest issues facing the coastal city as local voters consider their options before the general election announced for the 6th of May.

Caroline Lucas
Currently the Green MEP for the south east, a post she won in 1999, the 49-year-old joined the Green Party back in 1986 and has since been elected party leader in 2008.

Member of the Labour Party since 1998, Nancy, 44 has spent most of her life in the public and charity sector. Previously holding positions within the TSSA, a railway trades union, Daycare Trust and National Childbirth Trust.

UCL graduate Charlotte was selected in November 2009 as the Conservative PPC. She has a history in Business as CEO of Big White Wall, which won the 2009 Guardian Award for Innovation in Community Engagement, and has previously campaigned with environmentally-minded millionaire Conservative Zac Goldsmith.
