Making of Hereford Eco Pavilion - Hay Festival 2010

In High Town Hereford this week there is a striking Oak-framed-green-roofed-eco-pavilion. It is designed and built by local businesses. The companies involved in creating the structure are RRA Architects, Oakwrights and Green Rooftops who are working with The Guardian Hay Festival, to promote this years festival.

It is also a great example of sustainable-event-architecture and construction. As the team behind the project have managed to reduce waste and recycle materials, the Oak-frame and fixings are reused, the rainwater guttering is made from Bamboo poles and the roof is clad in Sedum and will be recycled, continuing life after the event.

For the whole week the Hereford-Eco-Pavilion will host a whole series of events in conjunction with The Guardian Hay Festival 2010, whom are working with Herefordshire Council, local schools and local writers.

The Pavilion offers an exciting reusable and easy-to-use event space, in which it is possible to sit and enjoy a coffee served by Coffee Cart, read a book soaking up the hustle and bustle of Hightown and gather information about whatʼs-on at this years Hay Festival.

The week-long event is also supported by Herefordshire Council, and Hereford City Partnership and will be in High Town until Sunday the 23rd of May.

Music is Cantelowes by the excellent Toumani Diabate who will be performing live in concert at this years Hay Festival on Friday the 4th of June.
