By the way, the singers of this version (the McGarrigle sisters) are from Québec (born in Montréal). So yeah, that's why you hear a Québécois accent.

Not as much as people from France use English words in French. You would be surprised!

Yeah, it looks like Québec French. That's what I tought when I heard that. Maybe they are not Québécois, but their French has been influenced by Québec's one. For example, we clearly hear the "pis" instead of "et" or "puis".

Why not? American English is still English, even if it's not European English. So Québec French is still French, and believe me, Québec is almost more French than France (that's what tourists say when they come in Québec... even Europeans).

basically ticky-tacky is low-quality material (anything, not only clay). Shit in one word :P. The term was used in the US during the 40's widely iirc and might now be considered archaism ?

I did some more research, and another interpretation is that ticky-tacky is just any cheap building material. It essentially leads up to the same thing anyways.
