It isn't exactly the make-up of the item that is unwanted, it is still thought of as a by-product and as such, is not acceptable. Usually by-products refer to items that are coming from an animal that doesn't require them to be killed, but does require them to be manipulated in some way (cows have to constantly be pregnant to produce milk). While it isn't the same as going after a baby cow for veal, some consider it to be just as unnerving and choose not to use it in any way.

  • A vegan is sometimes called a strict vegetarian, meaning they do not eat or use any animal products (meat, lucky rabbit feet, leather shoes, etc). or by-products, such as honey, silk from worms, or milk which is also used to make cheese. There are tons of places to find information about it.

  • whats exactly a vegan? honey is just bee throw up...

  • I retract my comment about not showing the final product in this particular video, since you DO show it in the Fruit Topping recipie, lol ...

  • Again great videos, ... wish you'd be making more. But you still gotta work on finishing them, most all of your videos are not complete and don't show the final product. We didn't even get to see how they brown in this one :P

  • To replace the honey you can use brown rice syrup or agave nectar. You can even use maple syrup for these since that's what you'll probably be topping it with anyway, hehe

  • Most vegans don't eat honey because it comes from bees. I wonder if there is an alternative or if it can just be left out?
