Game 5 was a triple-overtime classic that is considered by many to be the greatest game in NBA history. With the series tied 2-2, Boston took a huge lead at Boston Garden but could not hold it. The game was enhanced by several controversies, including Boston's Paul Silas trying to call a timeout at the end of regulation that Boston did not have (with the officials simply ignoring him lest the game be decided upon a technical foul shot), but eventually went to Boston in three overtimes, 128-126. Phoenix, in tying the game, overcame a 22-point deficit.

@thenintendogamer Unfortunately, the Celtics deserved to win as well. Would I rather have had the Suns win, though? Yeah, definitely.

the only other person I have ever known who saw this game, that I watched untill 1:30am, was Dr. Amare Bose, who started the Bose speaker company while still a college prof. at mit. He came to atlanta and visited our store, we were the first Bose dealer in the city. He was so very nice and kind, and we reminised at what was without question the greatest nba final game of all time!

I remember this game like it was yesterday I was 12yrs. old It brought me to tears then and it still brought me to tears today that a game that was so close I had a little plastic yellow bat just pounding on the floor OMG what a game I want this to be a memorable game for me.... BOSTON CELTICS I WANT REVENGE COME GET US .... GO SUNS

LOL. That game certainly was a classic. I love rivers and rocks' comment. That was one heck of a funny story. : )
