This is Dire Straits. The guitarist and singer is Mark Knopfler. He made this tune for their first album in 1978 and he is ranked as one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

When I heard this for the first time, I wanted to hear more by Mark and Dire Straits.

Luckily for me, a good friend of mine had Alchemy Live - and I copied it off of him on a TDK D-90 in guitar-forsaken India, of all places, and learned it pretty much note-for-note! LOL!

What great memories - none the worse for it now either!

The eighties were magical! For the first time I think ever, the world felt a kind of kinship and oneness that had been lacking hitherto.
