A unique 'hide-away' boom that turns the headset into a pair of high-quality headphones for music and multimedia use. A telescoping, noise-canceling microphone that provides accurate positioning for voice clarity. An in-line volume and microphone mute controls to provide gamers fingertip audio and voice direction.
"When it comes to headsets, the gaming community demands extreme audio precision and comfort for continuous wearing," explained Matt Miller, Senior Director, Entertainment Products. "We've reunited with Dolby to bring players virtual 7.1 surround sound for a more convincing gaming experience and leveraged our heritage in ergonomic headset design to alleviate discomfort that comes with extended headphone use."
The GameCom 777 headset is compatible with VoIP internet programs such as Skype
From our tests in Gaming, Music and Movies we have to say, Plantronics has done a great job with there GameCom 777.
Music:
We found has some great base which is not over powering and is just about right for most music types when using the GameCom 777 in stereo mode.
When we tried the virtual surround sound in music we soon found out that virtual surround sound in music was no good at all.
Movies:
Again some great sound from movies and after watching different types of movies from action to comady, we found it was balance really well in stereo and sounds goods
When we tried virtual surround sound, it did the job well but found sometime it sounded a little messy but great at times.
Gaming:
Once your in game, you really can tell you have a great headset, the sound really does stand out and sounds great when in stereo
When in virtual surround sound mode, again just like in the movies they do sound really good.
They can not really pinpoint the sound bang on, its more like a wider range sound more then anything else, but it does give you that something extra.
Overall this is a GREAT headset for the price and hats off to Plantronics for doing a good job with the virtual surround sound, it may not be spot on but its one of the best virtual surround sound headset i have tried to date, So hats off to Plantronics.

Do the headphones themselves, as in the ear cups cancel background noise?
yorkshire4000 2 months ago
@yorkshire4000 no. they are open-ear design which mean you can still here the background noise, so if someone as talking to you then you will here them or if you have the tv on in the background you will here them.

Can I use that onmy ps3 on 360?

@4Skyrim No these are a PC Headset.
GeeksTech 6 months ago
@GeeksTech Actually you can use these on a ps3/xbox, although you'll need a mixamp. Try the Astro mixamp pro.
I would recommend this mix amp due to it greatly improving the sound quality of every headset I've tested including the Gamecom 777. As a side note the astro mix amp is MLG's official mix amp. (At least the bundle with both the mix amp and astro a40 headset is MLG endorsed).
