Model: Sony SL-J5W
Supported recording/playback speed: Beta II only.
Sold in: Taiwan.
Description:
Sony SL-J5W seems to b a Betamax deck that was slightly altered especially for Taiwanese market. The voltage is 110V 60Hz AC which suits Taiwanese standard rather than ordinary Japanese decks' 100V 50/60Hz AC. There are also some operating instruction printed in Chinese. Most texts on the front panel were still printed in Japanese however.
This video shows a 31-year-old Betamax deck connected to a computer TV card and plays video quite well except the random popping noise which I have no idea how it was caused. The tape was recorded by a SL-2400 (1983) in 2008.
