Maltese Singers - Tony Camilleri, Tal-Laqam (Those with a nickname)

In Malta and Gozo, each town or village has some kind of nickname or is known for something from nice to silly. This song covers several town and villages which the singer mentions. He also speaks about the way certain words are pronounced in various villages. Malta is tiny but at times you find different dialects in certain villages that are only about 3 kms away from each other.

He ends up his song by offering his apology if he offended anyone and if someone got offended, he simply doesn't care :))

We're showing photos of each village as they are mentioned in the song. It gives some nostalgic feeling to the Maltese abroad and the foreigners can have a glimpse of our villages.

A general note: Malta has around 78 towns and villages. Population in each varies approx from 1,000 to 25,000.

Only the Maltese can understand the lyrics but the others, who wished they were Maltese, will enjoy the beautiful music of this song based on Maltese folkloristic style music.

Tony Camilleri is one of the top singers in Malta. He's famous for the Maltese Folk songs (Ghana - pronounced aana - gh is silent) and gave us several immortal songs like for example, "Int Sabiha Malta taghna" (You are beautiful our Malta) which you can find on one of the mychoice channels.
