http://www.sniffandspit.com. Rebecca Dunphy's top wine tips for what to drink with one of the most delicious English puds - rhubarb fool. I used to just wolf it down on its own and then I discovered just how good it is with Moscato d'Asti -- not to be confused with Asti Spumante. This wine is only 5%, and only lightly sparkling, whereas Asti Spumant is fully sparkling and a bit higher in alcohol.
This is a dessert wine, but not from over-ripe grapes, instead the Moscato grape has naturally really high sugar, so you get the sweetness with a grapey freshness -- to appreciate what I mean you have to try it -- perfumed like a perfectly ripe melon with a light fizz -- I am drinking one of my favourites from Prunotto, based in Piedmonte, NE Italy.
