I don't get how people can stand on a platform with that going on around them and not even blink. Surely that qualifies as unusually wonderful to anyone...

Pretty cool loco and whistle. Thumbs up! :)
-
@grantham8 I know they prob didn't. It's just a case of some like that kinda thing & some don't. Wonderful machines though & certainly better than the trains we have today, maybe not as fast though.
-
@systemanic I don't think that anybody ignored that train ----or any of the other steam trains that I have witnessed at Grantham ---and if they did ignore it then accept that it was their loss.
-
@paullubliner No worries ---I have the advantage of the original and slo-mo to actually see it ---and to realise that she is stood next to a bush . Thanks for your comment
-
@grantham8: Sorry, I don't seeing her doing that.
-
@grantham8 : REALLY??? Have you her number?
-
I cant stop watching this either, I have seen over and over, I never get sick of it, it gives me goosebumps, what a great video. May it always be on here :-) steam lover forever
-
@paullubliner Think that you are unfair to the young lady ---she has her phone held up ready before the train arrives and takes a pic /vid as it passes .
-
A rock steady camera, great lighting & camera position.
You did this superlative example of British engineering justice.
Sir Gresley would approve!
-
@MrMoorkey Using pinnacle 12 on Vista
Unfortunately at the moment taking the shots in HD but do not have a pc that can support the editing . They are a lot better from the camcorder direct to screen
-
And that, is a real train.
-
Now that is a proper train. It really brings home the reality of just what all the youngsters of today have missed out on....MAGIC.
-
Cor! Twelve carriages and still manages to belt along at modern-day speeds. They knew a thing about loco building in them thar days!
-
Awwww, wow, I never thought A4 pacifics could look more awesome...and then we get one at night...*is blinded by awesomeness*
-
That sound . . . that station. It takes me back to the early sixties when I saw "Lord Farringdon" storm through Grantham. That started my love with railways.
-
OMG The sound of this train is awsome, it sends shivers down my spine
-
All we need now is the sound of the up platform station bell telling us to put the cap back on the Tizer bottle and get the notebook out before this wonderful soundscape unfolds. Just like the video, you would hear them before you could see them, and as soon as the chime whistle sounded you would know; "It's a Streak!" - and we'd all pray that it was a rare Scottish one that hadn't been sent back at Newcastle or York. Now it's gone through, I can finish my Gala Fruit Pie !! Thanks for posting.
-
whos the gump who put a dislike .......
-
The A4 'Chime' is always breathtaking...."Double Decker goosebumps" takes me back to my boyhood days at Newark Station ECML.....
-
"stop playing with your whistle!"
-
I have only just seen this tonight for the first time and have replayed it about twenty times! The location, locomotive, sound and especially the acoustics make this a superb video,i am so glad you did not add any commentary or silly music like so many do and ruin the actual experience.it sends shivers up my spine every time a watch it,better than sex!
-
@grantham8 I must agree with his comment everytime i watch this video I am in Awe at the site of this speeding through I only wish Network Rail would have allowed runpast which to this US railfan haveing never seen UK steam in action was disapointing we had this engine as well as the Dominon of New Zealand (Bittern)on the first day of the GB4 I was disapointed all the others we were able to get off at water stops and see the engines but the 2 A4 I got little to no shots of
I can't stop watching this!
