Isla Los Roques UFO 1 of 2 Animation

Its an impressive video, even if the UFO is real or not.

This is one of several I have found with the "Los Roques" title.

The two that I have posted seem to be the most realistic of the bunch.

Amazing what can be done these day with computer video special effects!

Why show it then?

Because it is being sent around discussion groups and has shown up on a number of sites, and has been posted as real in a number of those sites.

A quick check of YouTube shows it is computer animation, but very good animation, and convincing until you look further and see that it is one of many, some of which are not done as convincingly as this one is.

But if I find a "real" UFO video I will post that as well.

All of us will have to encounter some "real" and some "fake" videos along the way as we search out the truth about these unusual events and possible events that interest us.

The best that any of us can do at any point in time will be to keep an open mind, keep our skepticism in working order, and to keep our powers of observation in practice by using them.

Today, light and shadow, lens flairs, and motion involving 3D objects, as well as realistic hand held camera motion can be done convincingly, realistic field sound can be mixed in, as has been done in this animation. And, further, voices well known to us can be synthesized as was done with Colin Powell's voice in a public demonstration a few years ago. Manbird and others will continue to improve their art.

Someday, no too far off this sort of video will be so realistic, no one will be able to distinguish it from reality, and that is worth a few minutes of our time to think about.

If someone like GW Bush or Barack Obama can gain a significant portion of the public's trust, perhaps someday even YouTube video know-it-alls can be deceived as well.

That is an animation of a lens flair. A lens flair happens with real video and film camera as they point towards a strong light source.

It was meant to add a bit of realism, just as the sonic booms, background - environmental sound, hand-held camera shaking after the sonic booms.

This really is excellent work.

In all honesty I think it will not be long before the majority of people will not be able to tell an animation from a real documentary video.
