This instructional video by Todd Cooperider of Esoteric Auto Detail shows how you can achieve a high level of paint correction with a fine finish when using the Porter Cable 7424XP buffer, Surbuf pads, and Meguiar's M105 Ultra Cut Compound. The test panel used is off of a Ferrari F355 that has been completely sanded down using Trizact 1500 and 3000 grit sandpaper.

  • Word of advice, on some paints (like black g35's) using that amount of pressure with the surbuf pad will cause pig tails.

  • Ok back here to report for those that are considering buying surbufs for your DA polisher. DO IT. I am simply stunned at the level of correction that these offer - my car finally looks similar to the rotary detailed ones on meguiars forums. I didn't have a chance at cutting so deep with just foam + DA (I dont own a rotary).

  • im absolutely HYPED up about this combo, just ordered surbuf pads, i have 105 already but with a PC+ Meg's yellow pad and it just isnt enough. i tried the maroon cutting pads same result.

  • @Constantine1717 yes absolutely, there is no sanding needed. he just sanded the panel to show how severe of swirls the surbuf + m105 combo can take care of

  • Can surbuf pads be used without sanding?
