As Luke comes out to his parents, Lily insists that he's just confused. Holden, however, assures Lily their son is telling the truth. Lily suspects Jade put him up to this, but Jade pulls out the big guns and tells Lily she wasn't the only one who knew about Luke's deception. Was she, Holden? Holden admits he had his suspicions. Lily demands to know how he could have kept this from her.

@setsunaleo it's reactions like this that make gay kids afraid to come out to their parents. Yes, could be worse, but it could also be so much better. Admittedly, Holden has had more time to face up to the possibility so he wasn't nearly as shocked as he could have been.

You're right, the writers were mean to the Lily character, but they only had two parents, and one had to respond in this way as representative of that faction of parents since that's the faction they wanted to show.
