  • Hi,

All of the errors that I've had like yours are due to a problem with the file itself. You can try to convert the file to a .mov or something similar by using a video converter application. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

  • Very good video. My problem is, when I import video into imovie 9, event library and then view the video in event library, the video is fine. Once I drag the video into project window and view it there, my subjects heads or bottom half of their legs are chopped off. How do I rectify this?

  • @sydneyboudreau2012. The proportions of the video are different to the proportions of the viewer. Click the clip and then hit the "C" key. Now you can crop (or rather, decrease the size) the clip in the viewer and you will be able to add black bars to the sides so that the entire subject can stay onscreen.

  • well explained. my question is: when you import 2 different video clips in the timeline is theere's a way to join them together and make 1 piece of clip, since there is a .5 sec of gap between this 2 clips?

  • @Coxfame There shouldn't be any gap between the clips unless there is another .5 sec clip in between. Maybe one of your clips start or end with a black image, in which case just shorten that clip by selecting the part to be deleted, and hitting delete.

Also, you may want to try to add a short fade transition between them and see if that helps.

Don't forget to subscribe if you like what you see!

  • Thank you so much for posting this! It was very thorough and I learned a lot. Are .mov files compatible with imovie?

  • @kimberly2172 Glad I could help! Yes, Mov files are compatible

  • You explain things very well...

    Cheers

  • Hi Daniel, my question is I imported an MP4 video into iMovie and it imported fine, shows up in the event window and I can drag it into the project window but it doesn't show up any vision in the project viewer top right. When I click on the space bar to play it I can hear the audio but get no vision. Can you tell me what is going wrong? Is it a problem with importing MP4? and if so is there another way of getting that footage in?

    Thanks the tutorial is great.

  • thanks so much for the infos

  • Are you Microsoft Sam?

  • good enough ... thank you
