@EmperorZ19 when they say 'expand the floor of the cage' they mean keep the current [bad] systems in place but make them better. once they are good enough you can remove them altogether. but without the safety offered by the current systems, nothing better could come because things would quickly get much worse.

Unless maybe there's a really dumb but violent guard watching the cage and the bars don't actually do anything to hold you in and you can move em around at will, and when he's not looking you expand the cage and when he turns back around you're like "Hey Mr. Guard I'm still totally trapped in this cage, no need for any wedgie's today"
