It's tough, but not impossible for one person on $15,000 per year to save $40,000 after five years. Look for Single Room Occupancy housing for cheap rent.

Unless you're blowing through money frivolously like a Kardashian, the answer is no. There are many things a person on $15,000 a year can do to save. If you rent now, your goal should be to save for a mortgage. Find a place to rent for $400 a month. You can manage food on $3.00 per day. Get internet and a computer, but not television and find a cheap or free ISP.

Last, but not least, you can move to Fargo.
