Another nice afternoon session, most made it to the net....revenge after the prior week's session of 1 for 6 (1 to the net, 6 hookups). Springs is almost here, water is off colored, get used to it, the fish do. Midges carpeted the water, but BWO's are quickly becoming the preffered food source from 1 to 3 in the afternoon, even saw some surface sippers. Skwala nymphs are all over the rocks but I haven't seen any adults. Caddis are starting to show in small numbers as well. Be warned, 4x and #20's are a bad combo, I've had a few hooks straighten out on just normal sized fish! Could be that I can no loger get quality flies from the Reno Fly Shop (R.I.P.).

  • Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I usually use weight on the Truckee, in the winter when the flows are low, usually a #6 or BB, when the flows get high, two BBs or two ABs. Best Regards.

  • I used a Sage TCR or XP, can't recall which rod that day, but the reel is a Galvan T6. Galvan and Sage make excellent products, but they're a bit pricey. Thanks!

  • Good fishing! I never had much luck in the truckee, but I'm on the cal side. I know there is some nice fish there, but you need to know where, when and what, which I don't. Nice vid editing too!

  • I like the XP in 690 out west on big rivers. I must say that few rods are equal to the Scott 804 powerply or the original Winston IM6 8 1/2 5 Wt 3 pc.

  • great video, nice relief from the many crappy amateur videos there are on the Truckee. You've got a great mend technique, I can't believe how long of drifts you get. Great fish and nice scenery. Were you using any weight to get the flies down?

  • What rod and reel is he or she using,

  • Nice vid. I need to fish the NV side more. I like fishing that stretch, but its a drive for me from Truckee. Oh, try using a 2488H in like an 16-18 tied sparse for your normal size 20s and youll straighten a lot less hooks. You can get those hooks up in Truckee at the hardware store, if youre willing to drive. I used to work at RFS, nice to hear the kind words.

  • Nice video...We're looking forward to things warming up and to this kind of action shortly on the Bow River in Canada.

    Cheers,
