Celebrated historian Richard N. Goodwin is best known as an adviser and speechwriter for Presidents Kennedy and Johnson. A graduate of Harvard Law, he also conducted an investigation into the quiz show "Twenty One," later made into the movie "Quiz Show." Now, he turns his attention to two of the most titanic egos of the 17th Century: Galileo and Pope Urban VIII.

The Huntington Theatre Company presents the American premiere of "Two Men of Florence." In the brilliantly imagined production, Galileo and Pope Urban VIII face off in an epic battle for the soul of the world.

  • Very informative. Thank you for this piece! I was looking specifically how to pronounce the Pope's name, but instead, he is just simply referred to as "The Pope" about 3-4 times. Can anyone send me a pronunciation guide for how to say Pope "Urban" VIII?
