This is an example of using recent SVN builds of ffmpeg to perform a screen capture with dual or single channel audio capture. ffmpeg is far superior to recordmydesktop in terms of CPU usage, frame rate, and general flexibility. This screencast was made under Ubuntu Linux on a quad core box.

  • This is supercool. Can you also use ffmpeg to stream your desktop through empathy?

  • @anotherelvis I don't know about that, but there is an ffserver application that is part of the ffmpeg project that you might want to look into.
