At the end of December 1940, the Oliviers returned to Britain, to face Europe at war. When asked why, they replied : "because it is our home" ! A courageous act, that threw them, from Hollywoodland to a place filled with air raids, fright, death and destruction... One easily forget what there really was behind those simple words : "War, war, war..."

  • Nice!

You know Larry narrated a documentary about the Blitz in 1941 called Words for Battle. I saw it in a documentary theory class in college; I'd know that voice anywhere!

  • No I did not know about the documentary. You certainly were in a good college. In mine we never had a chance to hear Larry's voice. Louis Jouvet's or Guitry's rather...

  • You have to be the one of the greatest editors ever!! So moving and touching!! Thank you!

  • Woaw. Best compliment ever !!!

  • This is really great! Another great tribute!Thank you for posting!

  • War is NOT a romantic issue. Wondered what it was like, the alarm, the air raids, bombing, fear, black out, food shortage... And in spite of all, they went BACK !

  • i give my heart out who those survived world war II....

  • Thank you very much for your kind message. Yes, I like that piece very much. I think that our generation can't imagine what it must have been to live in London during the Blitz. The total fright & horror of it.

  • this gave me chills...especially the beginning. WOW!

  • Wow, that is quite a compliment. THANK YOU... :))

  • This is made a pro.... nice to watch professionals at work.. And if you`re NOT a professional; I raise my glass in your honour:-9 Never delete this...

  • oh oops! sorry that was supposed to be a comment to my last comment!

  • :) I studied film in college which is how I got to see some of these things. I think this one was meant as sort of a morale boosting thing. It had some really powerful/sad footage of London after the bombings overlayed with Larry's commentary but it wasn't really him talking about the Blitz itself, he read works by famous British authors and poets like Rudyard Kipling, Robert Browning, etc, sort of like an "England will prevail" type of thing. I find WWII fascinating to study

  • World war II was, I think, the worst war that i know off...because of all of those things and also the holocaust.....
