San Francisco has had "unarmed exhibition" style girls drill team as far back as the 70's. was extremely popular and competitive in the 80's.

yeah, the change in singing style started surfacing in the early-mid 90's. back in the 80's, it was about being LOUD, more cheerleader. today, its deep (sometimes tooo deep if u ask me.) alot has changed...
